Bringing balance within your yoga/movement/breath work practice.
Specialized and specific practices for individuals looking to deepen their practice or personally bring about balance within their body.
Unlike SI work, this involves directly focusing on bringing relief and integration to injured and blocked areas of the body.
The techniques are deep tissue and the principals are all from Peter Niemela. These are the most effective treatments I have yet experienced personally and as a practitioner.
On a practical level you are faced with ten sessions with each of the first seven systematically and logically concentrating on a different aspect of the body, endeavoring to bring about a sense of order to them. The final three sessions integrate your differentiated parts into one whole.
The differentiation mentioned above is based upon your ‘core’ and ‘sleeve’ being mutually independent of each other whilst still enjoying a close and nourishing relationship.
‘Core and sleeve’ are not easily defined words and any attempt to define them will result in something unnecessarily wordy; the reason for this being a wordy description is that this process is experiential and each individual will enjoy results that will be described in their own words.
As for results, the works primary aim is to create a more integrated human being, or to put it another way, someone more at ease with the only constant companion during our life, Gravity.
Important basic information is that you’ll be required to be in your underwear so the practitioner can observe existing patterns and their changes in the body as we progress through the sessions.
Finally, if you have not realized yet, the work is physical, so you can expect your body to be manipulated, moved, stretched, re-shaped and more. The work can be uncomfortable, but you are always in charge and we all know any long-term habit can be uncomfortable during its period of change.
Lastly, the more you bring of yourself to the work, including your long held and hidden imbalances, the more your will get out of it.
